Did you know that your dog may value your praise just as much as food?
A 2016 study from Emory University used MRI scans to explore how dogs responded to food versus praise from their owners. Researchers found that 13 out of 15 dogs showed a response to praise that was equal to or greater than their response to food.
That’s a pretty amazing reminder of just how important our attention, affection, and connection are to our dogs. 🐶💜
Socialization isn’t only about meeting new people, dogs, or experiencing new environments. It’s also about helping your dog feel safe, confident, and connected to you.
Sometimes, a simple “Good dog!”, a smile, or a moment of genuine attention can be a powerful reward. ❤️
🐾 This Sunday, take a moment to slow down, connect with your dog, and let them know they’re doing a great job!
