🐾 Success Saturday: Alfia’s Journey to Calm and Confidence 💜
Meet Alfia — an energetic pup who was found wandering alone in Mississippi. After being rescued and cared for in a foster home, she finally found her loving fur parents and a place to call home. 💜
Life with Alfia has been full of love — and challenges. She barks at everything outside, from cars to leaves, and gets very vocal when people walk by. On walks, she tugs, whines, and panics after just a few minutes. She’s a notorious door dasher, once knocking her mom over in her rush to get out. Playtime can also get intense, as she tends to be very mouthy, tugging on clothes — though never biting.
Crate time was another struggle. Alfia broke out of three crates, even bending the bars and reaching through to destroy the sofa. Though she’s now starting to go into her crate on her own, she still gets nervous and shakes when it’s time to settle in. Despite these challenges, she’s friendly and affectionate — she loves meeting new people, though she still jumps up in excitement!
To help Alfia live a calm, happy, and safe life, her family partnered with the Lead The Way Training team and enrolled her in our Social Dog Program. Together, we’re working to manage her anxiety, teach door manners, build a reliable recall, encourage calm walks, and help her feel more relaxed in new environments.
Step by step, Alfia is learning to stay calm, focus on her family, and enjoy life’s adventures with more confidence. She’s making steady progress, especially with greeting people politely and staying relaxed during walks — though she’s still working on keeping all four paws on the ground!
💜 Alfia’s journey is a beautiful reminder that growth takes time, patience, and love. She’s still learning every day, and with the help of her devoted fur parents and the Lead The Way team, she continues to make incredible strides toward becoming her best self. Together, they show that with trust, understanding, and teamwork — anything is paws-ible! 🐾✨
